Unit 4: Promoting Equality, Diversity, Inclusion and Human Rights in Adult Social Care Settings

This unit explores how to promote equality, diversity, inclusion, and human rights in adult social care practice. Learners will develop an understanding of discrimination, its forms, and its impact on individuals, staff, and care quality. The unit explains how UK legislation, including the Equality Act 2010 and Human Rights Act 1998, underpins fair and respectful care. Learners will examine how to work inclusively, recognising individual differences, cultural needs, and personal beliefs, and applying person-centred approaches to remove barriers and promote participation. The unit also focuses on identifying, challenging, and reporting discrimination, hate crime, mate crime, and bullying, ensuring learners understand safeguarding responsibilities and agreed ways of working. In addition, learners will explore how to access guidance, support others, and continuously improve practice to create a safe, inclusive, and rights-based care environment.
